Never again.)
Looking at the new EWR-DXB route, I’m tempted to try United Polaris transatlantic. Trying to decide if its worth it to try it transatlantic, and so your review is helpful (Emirates is my preference; but, if United Polaris price is significantly lower…..

They are the most underrated, maligned airline around but, as in your review, I find them quite reasonable and even good if not the best although it is certainly true that things got pretty dowdy in the recent downturn. My recent experience suggests they have a better customer service orientation than highly rated Lufthansa where my attempt to obtain some modest compensation for a broken seat on a full business class flight took six months of calls and letter writing, including 2 to the CEO before I received a grudgingly issued cheque together with a statement that their contract of carriage only required them to deliver me to my destination and that the compensation was a result of my being a pest. United, conversely, immediately offered cash or award mike compensation on a flight which was diverted and delayed while the aircraft was replaced. Lufthansa also tried to deny boarding to my wife and actually insisted that I purchase a new ticket when she lost her paper boarding pass between check in and boarding.
LONG COMMENT BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT JUST THE UP FRONT SERVICE BUT THE MANAGEMENT AND WHAT THEY DO WHEN THINGS DON’T GO RIGHT!

And that 2-2-2 layout, I found terrible on a recent flight to the UK. I found the bed quite difficult because of the narrow area for feet, and nowhere to stow stuff. I’m hoping the pod is a big improvement.

Ever try pooping in a plane’s toilet when there are 20 hideously horrendous economy peeps banging on the door, demanding that you hurry up?
Just asking.

The best one that you need to fly on is the 777-300ER Business class. Can wait for the Four Seasons resorts!

Your TRs are so detailed and helpful.
Have you done a report on airline food catering? I think it would be fascinating to follow that process from the very beginning of menu planning to service on the plane. How do fresh looking, tasty meals end up on our tray tables at 37,000 feet? Thanks for your excellent work.
